Welcome to Bethel Lutheran Church and Portland, Oregon!

  • We recognize that you may be joining us from a variety of spiritual and religious traditions. Feel free to participate as fully as you like. If you feel led to participate in Holy Communion, you have our full and unabashed welcome to the table.
  • It’s customary for clergy to wear red stoles for ordinations, so if you’d like to match the color of the day, feel free to wear something red. Also, June is Pride Month, so rainbows fit the occasion as well. Other than that, feel free to wear whatever is comfortable for you to worship.
  • There are many ways to give back to Bethel, outlined in the worship bulletin. If you feel so moved, we will gladly receive your offerings. Offerings help to support the ongoing ministries of Bethel.
  • There is a lift available for anyone who many need assistance navigating the different floors of the church. Please contact an usher if you would like to access the lift.
  • There are multiple bathrooms for your convenience. Gender segregated bathrooms are located in the basement, and a single-stall, all-gender bathroom is located in the annex portion of the building. If you’d like assistance in accessing any of the facilities, please contact an usher.
  • The parking lot at Bethel is reserved for visiting clergy. There is ample street parking in the neighborhood.
  • A light reception will follow the ordination and installation service. If you’d like some more substantive food either before or after the service, here are some of Pastor Leon’s favorites in the neighborhood:
    • Atomic Pizza: 1936 N Killingsworth St
    • Spitz (Mediterranean Cuisine) : 2103 N Killingsworth St
    • Thai Ginger: 2020 N Rosa Parks Way
    • Azteca Burrito: 1942 N Rosa Parks Way
